State of Montana Guest Wireless Network Acceptable Use Policy
General
The State of Montana (State) Guest Network (Network) is the State's property.
The Network is primarily for the conduct of State government-related business.
The Network is also provided as a convenience to the public to assist in transacting business with State government and to facilitate access to the Internet for lawful and appropriate personal use.
The Network is not “protected” from the Internet in the manner that State government computer resources are normally protected. Each user is responsible for having current anti-virus software and software definition files, updated operating system patches, operating system fixes, and an enabled personal firewall on their computer to protect it from security issues.
State Employees and Officials
State employees and officials using a State-assigned computer, mobile device or other State equipment shall follow applicable statewide and employer policies. The State Enterprise Information Systems Policy Instruments are located at http://itsd.mt.gov/policy/policies. Particular policies to note are: Statewide Information Systems Policy – User Responsibility; and Statewide Information Systems Policy – Internet Acceptable Use.
Prohibited Uses
The Network may not be used for illegal or inappropriate purposes. Such purposes include, but are not limited to: profane language or content; sexual content or links thereto; defamatory content; and content regarding private business activities or political purposes. For State employees and officials, inappropriate use also includes use that is inconsistent with an agency's mission and the general standard that an employee's work be conducted in a professional and courteous manner.
User Acknowledgement
The user understands and acknowledges that:
There is no reasonable expectation of privacy in messages and information transmitted on the Network. All transmissions on this system may be intercepted, monitored, recorded, copied, printed, audited, inspected, and disclosed. A user should not use the Network for any matter that the user desires to keep private or confidential.
Unauthorized, illegal or inappropriate use of this system may result in the user being disconnected from the Network without notice and being responsible for civil damages or criminal penalties or both.
The State is not responsible for the user's content.
By using this system, user consents to these terms and conditions of use.
BY CONNECTING TO THIS SERVICE, YOU AGREE TO THIS ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY.
